Laser plasma density measurements using interferometry

چکیده
Fabrication of an interferometer is planned at the UCSD Laser Plasma and Laser-Matter Interactions Laboratory. The primary goal of this project is to measure the density at early times in the evolution of highly transient laser created plasmas. We describe the design concepts and details of different kinds of interferometer for measuring density evolution, especially during early time of plasma expansion. This diagnostic tool is very important for characterizing EUV laser produced plasma light as most of the EUV radiation is emitted only during the laser pulse.

Dynamics of converging laser-created plasmas in semicylindrical cavities studied using soft x-ray laser interferometry.
The evolution of dense aluminum and carbon plasmas produced by laser irradiation of 500-microm -diam semicylindrical targets was studied using soft x-ray laser interferometry. Plasmas created heating the cavity walls with 120-ps -duration optical laser pulses of approximately 1x10;{12}Wcm;{-2} peak intensity were observed to expand and converge on axis to form a localized high-density plasma re...
متن کاملDiagnostics of Dielectric Barrier Discharge at Atmospheric Pressure by Laser Spectroscopic Measurements
Spatial distribution of electron density inside parallel plate dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) is discussed in this presentation by using CO2-laser heterodyne interferometry measurement. This interferometry measurement has been used for low pressure plasmas and applied to DC microplasmas at atmospheric pressure recently. To derive the electron density inside pulsed plasmas like DBD, we used ...
متن کاملPicosecond x-ray laser interferometry of dense plasmas.
We present the first results from picosecond interferometry of dense laser-produced plasmas using a soft x-ray laser. The picosecond duration and short wavelength of the 14.7 nm Ni-like Pd laser mitigates effects associated with motion blurring and refraction through millimeter-scale plasmas. This enables direct measurement of the electron-density profile to within 10 microm of the target surfa...
متن کاملGuiding of High Intensity Ultrasho # ECElvED Laser Pulses in Plasma Channels Produced with the Dual Laser Pulse
We present results of experimental investigations of laser guiding in plasma . channels. A new technique for plasma channel creation, the Ignitor Heater scheme is proposed and experimentally tested in hydrogen and nitrogen. It makes use of two laser pulses. The Ignitor, an ultrashort (400 fs) laser pulse, is brought to a Iine focus using a cylindrical lens to ionize the gas. The Heater pulse (1...
متن کاملInvestigations on nanosecond laser produced plasma in air from the multi-component material YBa2Cu307
The laser produced plasma from the multi-component target YBa2Cu307 was analyzed using Michelson interferometry and time resolved emission spectroscopy. The interaction of 10 ns pulses of 1.06 #m radiation from a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at laser power densities ranging from 0.55 GW cm 2 to 1.5 GW cm 2 has been studied. Time resolved spectral measurements of the plasma evolution show distinct fe...
